Description
Old Worthy Brewery is the project of Nick Ravenhall on the Isle of Skye which started in 2012. The label's name comes from 'local worthies', Islay distillery men legendary for their hard work and their production of fine Islay single malt whiskies. Beers were initially brewed under contract by Isle of Skye but have mostly been brewed at Broughton.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - elusive. Hint of rye. Taste - more generous. Plenty of banana and spicy rye. Toffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - interesting beer.

330ml bottle. Clear dark amber to brown colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Nuttily malty aroma, hints of caramel, a touch of plum and raisin. Taste is bitter hoppy, minimally peaty smoky, a touch of toffee, raisin and plum. If anything, rather weakly smoky and boring overall.

Cask at Cloisters. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of blackcurrant, toffee. Taste is more of the same, maybe a touch of blackcurrant leaf. Sweet finish. Lingering near-smoky note. Nice.
