Description
Old Worthy Brewery is the project of Nick Ravenhall on the Isle of Skye which started in 2012. The label's name comes from 'local worthies', Islay distillery men legendary for their hard work and their production of fine Islay single malt whiskies. Beers were initially brewed under contract by Isle of Skye but have mostly been brewed at Broughton.

Black stout with a bubbly beige head. Flavour is dry and malty with a touch of chocolate. In the aftertaste there’s a touch more hop. Very drinkable.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - dark brown with a nice head. Nose - dried fruits, wholemeal bread and a tiny bit of smoke. Taste - fruitcake, gentle smoke again, burnt raisin note on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry finish, bordering on astringent but good. Overall - yeah, interesting ale. Complex.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6

On cask at the White Lady. Appearance - dark brown to black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - elusive at first, then burnt toffee comes through. Taste - toffee, liquorice, charcoal, burnt molasses. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry burnt texture through the middle section and this continues through the finish. Overall - quite complex but the burnt note is a bit too persistent to make it truly enjoyable.
