Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.

Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.

8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.

After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

440ml can. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small, foamy, short lived, white head that laces. Sour aroma of lacto, pale malt, pineapple, lemon, green apple and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, pineapple, peach, lemon and floral hops in a dry, tart lacto finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. More sour than ipa, but still enjoyable.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - golden and clear. Thinnoff white head. Nose - lemon and honey. Taste - more honey, almost lozenge. Palate - medium bodied, a touch sweet. Overall - is this supposed to be a strong ale or barley wine. If so, good enough. If its supposed to be a pale ale or IPA,it's too sweet.

Third at the hanging Bat. Golden pour with an adequate foamy white head. Aroma brings Belgian yeast, floral notes, sourdough bread. Taste adds some light fruity notes, plus more of ythe Belgian flavors. Soft and light.

Backlog. Bottle (thanks Sten). Clear dark brown color. Tiny to almost no head. Sour, sweet, herbal, balsamico vinegar in aroma and in taste. A lot going on in here. Mellow and smooth. Very solid brew.

A beautifully crafted WCIPA wafts from the can, and springs onto my tongue but the longer it goes, the more it disappears. Aromas of honey, biscuit, pine needles, resin and the slightest hint of stonefruit give way to a nice fruity, citrusy taste, but the malt backbone is lacking and the beer never seems to reach the back of your throat.

Backlog February 2017. Clear amber body under a nice, dense beige head. Fine aroma mostly dominated by coffee but also some malt and dry fruit. Taste is medium sweet malt, coffee, some chocolate and moderate bitterness. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Not exactly balanced but a really harmonic coffee ale.
