Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Bottle. Black with an inch of tan head that fades gradually. Aroma of blackberries, roasted malt, coffee, oak, some smoked almonds. Full bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Tastes much as it smells with nicely integrated berry, roasted, mocha and lightly smoky flavours. Perhaps a little soy sauce. Gentle bitterness is enough to make a finish. No overt booze. Lovely stuff.

(Can) Pours black with tan head. Lovely aroma of chocolate and toast grain. Smooth medium body with fine carbonation gives luxurious mouthfeel. The taste very impressive. It’s rich and very well balanced. There’s sweetness and some bitterness from chocolate and dark roast malt. This is balance by some lovely cherry tartness. And every now and then notes of frangipane appear. There flavours linger in a long finish, ending with a satisfying dark chocolate note. Unusual, clever and very tasty.

From a 440ml can on 1/1/2022. Pours a clearish medium golden with virtually no head. Has a light sour nose. Tastes of fermenting citrus fruit, yeast with an intense sour finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I like very few sours, but there are some that work for me. This grates on me badly. Hard to drink.

From a 330ml can on 25/11/2021. Pours a deep deep brown with virtually no head. Has a rich chocolate and cakey nose. It's sweet up front with dark and milk chocolate, caramel, fudge and vanilla notes, with a big warming soy and roasty/toasty bitter finish. Super smooth, yet the 15% is no real surprise. The mouthfeel is slick and syrupy, the carbonation moderate. Complex, balanced and exceptional.
