Description
Maplewood opened with the mission to push liquid boundaries in an unassuming building nestled in Chicago’s historic Logan Square neighborhood.

The first of its kind to establish brewing and distilling roots under a single roof, Maplewood has been producing finely crafted beer and spirits out of their 10BBL brewhouse and 250L Kothe hybrid still since 2014. Three years after moving into the production facility, Maplewood opened the Lounge, a neighborhood bar doubling as a cocktail parlor and brewery taproom. Beginning commercial distribution throughout Illinois shortly after settling into the Logan Square space, Maplewood has since expanded their distribution footprint into Missouri, SW Michigan, Northern Indiana, Wisconsin and Kansas. Maplewood’s patrons have come to expect expertly crafted beer in a wide range of styles.

Cloudy medium orange body, thick, puffy off-white head. Big tropical fruit nose- pineapple, mango, and papaya and some vegetal fruitskin. Dense flavor profile dominated by tropical fruit juice and vegetal (onion-like) undertones. Creamy; modest sweetness; not tart. A very nice beer.

Canned July 22nd.

Pour is on the warm side so there's lots of foam sitting on top of a really really pale liquid.

Oh my gosh, that smell is so full of noble hops with a little bit of bread sneaking through. Saaz dominates.

Mmm...it tastes as good as it smells. Noble hops tickle my palate, it literally screams Czech/Bohemian Pils. No faults that I can detect.

Mouthfeel is better than I expected from a 4.5% abv brew.

This is bloody amazing!

One might say I’m drinking too many beers this month. I wouldn’t trust that person. Anyway, this Chicago brewery definitely knows what they’re doing.

Pour looks like orange juice with a small white head. Aroma is a pretty decent tropical fruit juice. Flavor is an even better than I thought it would be tropical fruit juice with even a little bitterness on the back end. This is super fresh so I'm sure that helps but this is a above par hazy pale ale.

Got aromas are Vanilla granola. This might be the best vanilla beer that I have ever had. The vanilla is so clean, natural and balanced. Great carbonation and that works to balance and just enough bitterness to complete the picture. Very nice beer.

Pretty much what the brewery's description describes: Slight sweet at first with good carbonation and and a little growing bitterness towards the end. Good body and finish. Tasty beer.

Pour is a light gold with a huge white head. Aroma is bready pale malt. Flavor is again more bready pale malt. Hops are faint but herbal. A decent beer for chugging but not thinking about it.

16 oz. can traded by tfontana, thanks! Canned 04/28/20. APRIL!! Really pushing that 90 day rule! Aroma when warm has resinous and floral notes. Flavor has weak grapefruit, mild floral, and comes off lightly perfumy. Thin body and texture.
