Bottle @ Ölstugan Tullen. Pours very murky dark chocolate brown with a huge frothy goldenish brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while lacing lots of sticky trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is malty and fruity with roasted malts, caramel, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, pine needles, lemon zest, sweet liquorice candy, roasted oatmeal flakes, bitter chocolate, resinous wood and orange zest. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, malty and fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, grapefruit juice, bitter chocolate, lemon zest, orange zest, pine needles, freshly cut grass, moist soil, salty liquorice candy, caramel, burnt cookies and hints of dried black currants. Mouthfeel is round, soft, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter, malty and fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, salty liquorice candy, moist soil, resinous wood, lemon zest, grapefruit juice, pine needles and freshly cut grass. Glad a bottle of this was still around. Pretty sure it’s not a rebrew and if so it’s most likely faded a little... Bottle 330ml. @ [ The Danish Summer Gathering, TSODRBSG13 ].Light unclear medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, citrus, orange, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130831]

Draught @ All In Beer Fest 2013. Very happy they brought this with them too. Pours murky reddish brown with a frothy goldenish offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet with caramel, sweet dark bread, unprocessed grains, alcohol, prunes, raisins, figs, dry wood and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter and very tiny sour with caramel, oatmeal cookies, sweet dark bread, figs, dates, prunes, raisins, hay, lemon zest, dry wood, alcohol and biscuits. Mouthfeel is round, smooth, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter, tiny fruity and malty with biscuits, caramel, oatmeal cookies, lemon zest, grass, figs, raisins, golden syrup and hints of alcohol and lemon zest. This one needs another 6-12 months to mature but it’s a good barley wine base and I detect none of the chemical acetone components some previous ratings have mentioned. Will try to catch this again in a year if it’s still available...

Draught @ All In Beer Fest. Pours hazy pitch black with a creamy blackish mocha head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with roasted malts, vanilla fudge, high quality dark chocolate, moist soil, charred wood, roasted coconut, dark roast coffee, hay, burnt caramel and hints of bourbon. Taste is bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, high quality dark chocolate, vanilla fudge, burnt caramel, burnt cookies, hay, roasted nuts, moist soil, minerals, charred wood, burnt cereal and hints of bourbon. Mouthfeel is round, smooth and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter and malty with roasted malts, high quality dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, burnt caramel, vanilla fudge, bourbon, moist soil, minerals, charred wood and cocoa powder. Nicely smooth and tasty... Would love to see them up the recipe even further to make it a real heavyweight Imperial Stout and put it on proper bourbon barrels, not just JD-soaked cubes.

Draught @ All In Beer Fest 2013. Pours very hazy yellowish golden with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is phenolic and tiny fruity with crackers, dry soil, bandaids, hay, white pepper corns, peach skins, coriander, sheet metal and lemon grass. Taste is slightly bitter, tiny sour and phenolic with crackers, peaches, bandaids, hay, dry soil, medicine, dried apricots, white pepper corns, sheet metal and hints of lemon juice and lemon grass. Mouthfeel is round, slightly astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is slightly bitter and tiny sour with crackers, peaches, lemon juice, bandaids, pepper corns, dry soil, hay and lemon zest. The brewer didn’t agree with me but I found this way too medicinal, phenolic and not fruity enough. I know they’ve tried to make it more traditional than modern but it’s kind of all over the place. However, I’m happy they’re trying out the saison style and if they get it less phenolic and start hopping it like some of their PA/IPA I’m sure these will be winners too.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is dry coffee, roasted oak and liqourice. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee and similar. Long dry finish. Good one.
