33 cl bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is grassy and light pine hoppy. Toasted malty, bitter and slight herbal. Dry, toasted and grassy. Herbal finish.

Bottled from speciaalbierpakket.nl, BB 10/07/15, large sample, poured in a trappist glass. Clear amber color with some debris floating around, medium rocky off-white head, leaving some frothy lacing. Aroma of high alcohol, spicy yeast, some caramel, slight cookie, appelmoes (mashed apples). Bit bitter in taste, some sweetness. Feels a bit stale. Yeast has done way too much and now its nowhere near a bock anymore, but just a belgian double. Feels unbalanced: quite some phenolic yeast in the aroma, but then hoppy bitterness in flavor with a sharp slight alcoholic note in the finish. Dry, thin body, medium carbonation. No good.

Tap @ BBF14, Oirschot. Hazy amber, small off-white head. Smells sweet, malts, wheat, banana. Tastes sweet, malty, herbs. Medium body, soft carbo.

Thanks bierkoning! Dark brown color, good creamy beige head. Interesting herbal-woody, grain, caramelly aroma. Medium-bodied. Caramel, Belgian yeast, grainy herbal notes, even bourbony-kind of notes. Doesn’t show ABV much. Not maybe the best brew from Proef but very interesting and different.

At wvhnb. Big sweet malts, dough, light roasted touch and some earth. Very sweet and syrupy with noticeable alcohol. Full bodied. Nice stuff, you really get the whisky/beer combo.

Brown. Aroma: Caramel and malts. Flavour is sweet with hints of caramel. Very much akin to a decent Belgian Dubbel.

Bottled from Speciaalbierpakket.nl, BB 20/02/15, large sample. Served in a trappist glass. Clear golden color, short lasting white head. Aroma of grainy malt, hay, bit grassy hop, only slight spicy yeasty notes. Bit dry in taste, grainy, hay again, slight bitter, some sweetness. Bit sharpish palate. Mediocre brew.

Trübes bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch rauchig, Torf, Whiskey, fruchtig, leicht alkoholisch, genauso ist auch der Geschmack.

On tap @ Arendsnest. This definitely building up some expectations ad I have been on the wander all day in Amsterdam trying to locate a good hoppy Americanized hoppy punchy IPA on tap, but so far all I have ended up with is 4 mediocre and one bad totally classic English styles one. Yeah, you better deliver now you! It starts off nicely with a light cloudy, or more deep blurry golden orange looking beer, it has a really good looking super lacing and lingering white head. So, the nose: NOOOOOO! ANOTHER'S ENGLISH STYLE!? Not sure what I'll do now. It's basically dominated but caramel, sweet malts, burned honey puffs and fruity eastern tones this. Where is the punch? Where are the hops!? Nutty sweet aromas. That's a downer, but it does not smell bad in any way, just not how I want it to! Thank god it had some citrus in the taste. It's really mineral waterish but definitely some citrus. The oily in the mouth and it's wrapped in a soft to average carbonation level. Not sure if I should cry or laugh. I'm neither right now, but I just want a good hoppy American (that's USA) IPA! This is not that in any way! I'm going to Beer Temple again. At least they had something like that there. 07.03.2014
