Cask hand pump, half pint at Mark Addy, Salford. Back body with deep, ruby highlights. Fragile head-lacing. Smell of dark, semi-sweet malts with a touch of liquorice. Similar taste profile perhaps with emphasis on the liquorice part leading to a malt bitter ending. Fine bodied. Nice (Greater Manchester, 22.01.2013).

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 07/09/12. Clear blonde with a thin white head that soon dissipates to a swirl which then moves to the edge of the glass. Pale malt nose, orchard fruit and muted hops on the nose. Medium sweet taste, apple, light caramel. Medium nodied with moderate carbonation levels leading to a slightly bitter and dry finish. File under ’W’ for whelmed!
