About
Wylam Brewery was set up in a disused dairy on a farm near Heddon on the Wall in May 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton driven by their passion for real ale. The brewery grew rapidly on the strength of the quality of its ales, winning awards at festivals around the UK. They outgrew the original 1000L plant in 2006 and brought on-stream a new 3500L plant in August in a bespoke barn conversion. Since then they have enjoyed continued strong growth. In Summer 2016, the brewery moved to its current location at the same time expanding to a 30BBL plant.

Cask, South Causey Inn, Stanley, Co Durham. Will the real Ali G please step forward please ...Aiiiiiight !! Hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Some staleish citrus in the aroma, but not leaping up the nostrils. Flavour was malty, caramel, with the hops a bit muffled. Drinkable but drab. Not bling.

Cask, South Causey Inn, Stanley, Co Durham. Golden colour with a minimal head. Fragrant, slightly fruity aroma. Flavour malty and slightly sweet, with vague bitterness in the finish. Hugely average and dull like the loud conversation being played out at the bar while I was supping this.

Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 Had this Thursday 17th Poured mid amber with white head, lovely pump clip image btw of the ’Angel of the North’. Tasty beer that was both quite malty and just a little fruity, uncomplicated, easy drinking and not bad at all.

Cask at the Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 08-11-07 Dark brown almost no head at all. Mild fruity aroma but little else of note. A restrained bitterness and yet this pushes back through at the end, otherwise a decent fruity bitter, quite dry but interesting enough.
