Description
Sixpoint was founded in 2004 (we like to say it was born at the dawn of civilization, though that’s a story for another time…) in the rough and tumble neighborhood of Red Hook, BKLYN. It was essentially a cult brewery — draft-only, mysterious, cryptic…

In 2010 we released our canned creations, and have been tweaking, improving, and releasing new formulations ever since. Then in May of 2017, we took our biggest step forward to date, releasing all of our ales raw and unfiltered, and simultaneously incorporating new and incredible raw materials obtained over years of sourcing.

In November 2018, Sixpoint was acquired by Artisanal Brewing Ventures.

On tap at Pony Bar. Poured a near clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipated to the edges and laced nicely. Aroma had notes of flora and citrus with underlying lighter fruits as well as a bit of spice. Flavor began with citrus, but became more floral with hints of grain and light fruit underlying.

Picked up 4 pack of cans for Thursday night poker game. Tastes hoppy with slight tangerine orange, grainy malt, floral, and plenty of caramel. Bitterness kicks in at the end.

On tap at Pony Bar. Poured a clear amber with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma had a combination of pine and citrus with a hint of resin. Flavor was similar but had a good amount more grapefruit coming out in the finish as well as a bit of resin throughout.

On tap. Poured a deep near clear amber with a thick cream color head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced. Aroma was full of a strong sweet biscuit note with backing sweet grains and a hint of light fruits. Flavor was similar with strong biscuit throughout that had underlying sweet grains and light fruit notes. Bit sweet for me.

16oz can into a La Fin Du Monde tulip glass. Head large at first but fades quickly into nothingness. Clear dark straw color with a few bubbles shooting through the beer. Aroma is slightly heavy for the style, just not "crisp" enough white bread malts and with an undertone of grassy hops. Easy drinking beer with a similar flavor profile. The flavor sticks around for a but with a little noble hop kick at the back end. On style but just a but less crisp and sharp than I would like for the style.

Sampled from the cask at Ginger Man NYC. Poured a dark brown with small brown head that dissipate completely. Aroma was full of dark chocolate with a bit of backing rye as well as a hint of coffee. Flavor was smooth with very dark chocolate that was calmed by a nice rye note and a hint of sweet chocolate.

The first beer that I sampled at Beer For Beasts even though everything arranged alphabetically I ran straight for the middle with no plan at all. Smelled heavily of grapefruit and some pine notes. taste is more grapefruit good hopping and some lighter tropical fruits as well. Not a terrible experiment and set the tone for the types of beers we could expect on this wacky saturday afternoon

Sampled at Beer for Beasts. A nice standard brown ale, pours delightful looking, and tastes of hops, earth, dark chocolate, and some nuts. well balanced and a nice break up in comparison to some of the odder beers sampled, I enjoyed this one during the burlesque show portion of the event.

Sampled at Beer for Beasts. Pours pure brown with no head. Very malty indeed though. doesn’t remind me of German anything but its sticky and has cinnamon, earth, and hazelnut.
