Description
Welcome to the Cerddin Brewery based in Maesteg where all the beer that is produced comes from green energy. We also run our own pub called the Cross Inn, where you can find our beers on tap. If you would like to contact us regarding our beer then please fill in our contact form. The word Cerddin is Welsh for Rowan Tree, this tree is distinctive due to its bright red berry's which appear in the Autumn. It is stated in Mythology that the Rowan is magical and that it warns off spirits.

Day one at gbbf 13, cask, 1/3 pint. Deep mahogany coloured body. Dissipating off-white head. Earthy, dark malty nose. Blended taste of anise, toffee and coffee offset by a touch of fruity hops. Mild roasted bitter ending. Quite well bodied. Nice with fine drinkability (London Olympia 13.08.2013).

From cask. Pours hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is toasted malty and light herbal. Bitter, toasted malty. Dry and roasted into a medium bitter finish. Toasted malty too.

Cask (gravity) @ 28th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2011, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, EnglandClear medium to dark amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, toasted - caramel, candy - berry, sweet hay. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, berry - blackberry sweet notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20111209]

Gravity dispense at the Prince of Wales, Farnborough BF - 12/10/12. Clear golden with a small frothy white head. Caramel malt, toffee and a light fruit on the nose. Tastes of biscuit malt, caramel, light hop tones. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Average.

Pig’s Ear. Light haze on this amber beer. Little bubbly white head. Light palate, pretty dry. Trace of caramel malt. Tangy mild citrus hop. Very dry finish. Too dry!

Cask at Pigs Ear. Clear gold beer, Residual white head. Light semi dry palate. Reasonable in the bitterness in the orange marmalade hops. Mild tang. Semi dry finish. Not bad - pretty drinkable.

Cask at Pig’s Ear Beer Festival, London. Lightly hazy pale amber. Light grapefruit aroma. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Notes of ripe fruits and glue. Mild spicy bitterness.

Cask (gravity) @ GWBCF2011 - Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival, Cardiff Interantional Arena, Mary Ann Street, Cardiff, Wales.Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, light medicine. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, medicine notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110616]

Cask@GWBCF 2011. Yellowish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, rather malty along with some grassy notes as well. Flavour is grassy, fruity, mildly wooden and also has some slight yeasty notes to it.

On gravity at the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival, Cardiff 16/6/2011. Golden coloured with a slight white head. Sweetish, slightly creamy cereal malts, mandarin fruit and a touch of floral hops. Ok.
