Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Very deep chestnut with bubbly beige head. Choccy malt. Dryish finish. Really nice malt in mouth. Dry malt flavour but not powdery. Juicy feel in mouth

Copper brown, cloudy off-white head. Lemony woody hoppy nose. Quite mild, more malty than hoppy ale. A bit woody and roasted flavor. More or less tasteless, but those light flavors are ok, so this could work as thrist-quencher.

Cask gravity at Battersea Beer Festival 2006. Chestnut colour with disappearing white head. Some buttery toffee on the aroma, so perhaps some diacetyl maybe? Otherwise a pretty standard formulaic bitter.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] An orange beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet fruity combined with light esters and notes of caramel. The flavor is very fruity with a strong ester presence, and a sticky mouthfeel, leading to a slightly bitter end.

(pretty aged sample) Colour of extremely strong, nearly black tea; light brown, creamy head. Whiff of vinegar over grain, scorched grain and coffee. Again preserving vinegar in the taste, short lived but unmistakably, and returning with every sip. Coffee, but restrained; corn flakes and something faint cheesy - smoked cheese rookkaas . Well bodied, slick, slightly oily MF, thinner because of age & acidity. Thanks for this forgotten beer, MatW. As our mutual friend Ian Garrett would say, "Interesting" rather than really great.

Amber; hoppy, quite a bit of fruit (peach, pear). Very fresh tasting. Sampled cask-conditioned at the Bag O' Nails, Bristol.
