Bottle and cask. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a beige head that holds well. Great lacing. Aroma of chocolate ice-cream, burnt toast, ash and raisins. Flavour of berries, chocolate, mild coffee and vanilla with a tangy finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. This is a wonderful Porter - rich and tangy.

Bottle 750ml. w. swing top.[ Trade by cgarvieuk ]. Clear medium orange colour with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, flowers, moderate to light light heavy yeasty, fruity, coriander notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, fruity, flowers, belgium yeast, spicy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120812]

(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20120908) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had fruitiness and malts. Palate was quite light bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Afteraste was fruity and bitter. A very nice golden ale.

(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20120909) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had toffee and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were toffee, caramell, malts, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A nice a bit more tastier bitter.

Aroma - light citrus zest, soft fruity malts
Taste - Bitter lemon zesty hops, soft pale fruity malts, cereal, slight creamy note
Palate - soft carb, light body, frothy mouthfell. Bitter palate. Finish - dry, considerably bitter, lingering zest and some cereal. Overlingering, too dry and bitter
Overall - I found the finish a bit harsh. It’s a bit above average.

75cl bottle. Pours golden, almost clear and with a nice head. The nose has pale malt, meadow flowers and a sweet custard note. The taste has more of the custard and floral notes and there’s just a little bit of pineapple in there too. The palate is great - a large but elegant structure, with a big creamy texture through the middle section and an elegant, gradually tapering away finish. Overall, I really like this, it’s not a stout as we know it these days, an Imperial Blonde perhaps or a Belgian Blonde but using British yeasts. Great!

Cask, half at The Cloisters. Amber coloured body, filmy layer at the top. Sweet citrus fruits to the nose. Blended flavour of sweet orange fruits and caramel malts, noticeable alcohol. Good, however, rather too sweet and a bit heavy to drink (Edinburgh, 14.04.2012).
