I can’t believe my previous rating - must have been in an incredibly negative mood or mis-typed. Anyway, this time, lovely chocolate biscuit note on the nose, which is almost as pronounced on the taste. Palate medium to rich for such a session strength beer and a clean finish. Overall, lovely bitter. Previous rating 14/03/12 7+3+5+2+7=2.4 50cl Bottle. It pours an amber ale with nice lace and good head retention. The nose is floral and sweet (perhaps honey), eventually giving way to gentle malt. The taste is of more honey and malt and with astringent bitterness on the finish. The palate is typical for a medium-bodied session ale but balanced all the same. Overall, this is a step up from the wishy-washy session ales of yester-year, but I really do prefer their other beers.

Pigs Ear. Clear gold beer. Dry palate, low carbonation. Soggy sweet malt with a little bitter orange. Messy and a bit too much like hard work.

Cask at the Pig’s Ear BF 2010. Amber gold pour with no head. Malts and light nuts in the nose. Sweet, malty flavor with light toast, light earth, and cirtrusy bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Bready malt finish with faint, orange citrus notes. Pretty standard stuff.

Cask (gravity) @ 27th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2010, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, EnglandClear medium amber orange color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, grapefruit, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, hppy, plastic notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20101130]

Cask gravity at Pigs Ear 2010. Gold no head. Not much condition some interesting white stone fruit flavour. Its not great condition. Fruit is ok.

Cask @ 11th Ayrshire Real Ale Festival. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma is fruity, citrus, light malted. Flavour is citric, light malted, bit of biscuit. Lovely aroma.

Cask @ 11th Ayrshire Real Ale Festival. Ruby-red black colour, tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and a bit of coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, bitter coffee. Light bodied, well drinkable.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Dark golden colour, white head. Aroma is light malted, hoppy and grapefruit. Flavour is malty, bit of caramel, grapefruit. Fairly bitter and dry finish. Easy drinkable.
