Description
CRATE was established in 2012 when the Olympics were in full swing just over the canal, and Hackney Wick was changing fast. CRATE thrives on creativity, free thinking, and working hard. The experimental brewhouse is where all the Limited Edition beers are created.

Latest news November 2020:
The situation is complex, but it seems that there were two separate companies, one for brewing and one for the bar business. Both hit financial trouble, and the brewing company went into administration. Truman's, needing a new site due to delays with their new brewery, are currently brewing in Crate's old brewing space. But the website is still online and Crate beers are still available...

330ml can from TESCO's in Tiverton, Devon. BB 29th Apr 2020. Drank at home on 15th Feb 2020. Amber body, clean and clear, on top a full white head that hung around. The nose is dominated by piney hops, as is the initial taste, as it warmed a little citrus aromas and flavours joined in to add more bitterness and a dryness. Decent.

Keg at Love Beer London. Boozy, boozy aroma. Dark and glossy Thick creamy head. The taste is again dominated by the booze and barrel. Underlying creaminess and berries and Christmas fruits. Thick bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Suprisingly abrupt astringent finish. A good beer to leave the fest on.

Rocky tan head left a spotty cover & collar on a dark brown still body. Toffee, fudge & demerara aroma. Medium to full bodied, creamy on the palate with a soft clean back. Cinder toffee, fudge, toffee, chocolate, lactose & dark sugar tastes. Very nice.....

Can 33 cl. Pours a hazy golden with a lively and lacing white head. Nose is a little tired, even bordering rotten (BBD is impossible to decipher). Light-bodied, soft on the palate, chalky and minerally with a bitter finish. Really lacking good and fresh hops. 161219

Cask at the brewery. Nice, loads of funk and weirdness, cream cheese, surprisingly nice. Good stuff. Soft and great. Very surprised!

Tap at brewery. Thin, but refreshing, tropical, wheaty. Passion fruit, alright but not so exciting.
