Cask @ The Excelsior, Liverpool. Golden with not much of a head. It’s a lightly sweetened ale with some malts in its nose and a more balanced, somewhat neutral taste. A little sticky in its texture.

(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had butter, fruitiness and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were fruitness, butter, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. Decent but too much diacetyl.

(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had smoke, dark chocolate and liquorice. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, smoke, hint of peat, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. Not bad brew. Mild smokiness wasn’t too much hidden by the burnt malts.
