Description
Congleton raised Nick Calvert set up Front Row Brewing as an artisan bespoke brewery in 2012. Alongside his striving business in textile printing he wanted to use his passion in real ale to open his own brewery. As a ex prop in rugby player for Congleton and Sandbach rugby clubs it was only fitting that the theme of the brewery to follow suit.

Cask at Brewery Tap, Chester Pours an orange copper with a tight white head. Oranges in the nose with some malts. Taste has oranges as well, some bitterness and peppery sharpness, all with an undercurrent of malts. Some hops come through in the finish.

Cask at Royal Oak. Half-pint shared with Finn. Dotted spots on the glass from a small sized white head. Clear warm golden body. Very restrained smell of perfumed fruit. Mid sweet canned fruity flavours, perfumed impression. Mid-dry ending with yeast. A strange one.We did not empty the glass. (Bath 27.10.2019).

Hand-pulled half-pint on 12th Oct 2019, Crown Inn, Oakengates shropshire. Golden pour, clean and clear, smooth white blanket of foam for a head. Aroma held mild 'farmyard esters', earthy and woody. It's floral, herbal, farmyard flavours finished off very dry in the aftertaste. Interesting!

Cask at the Greyfriar, Reading. A pitch black pour with a reddish gleam and a tight pale yellow head; the aroma matches a cherry liqueur chocolate - the sort you only ever eat at Christmas; it's smooth in the mouth with a milky chocoalte body and some lightly spiced cherries; and then a chocoaltey finish. A cherry liqueur chocoalte in a glass.

Cask at the Alehouse, Reading. An opaque, peaty brown colour with a ring of tan head; aroma of plums with just a hint of spice; smooth and silky in the mouth with a sweet plummy taste and some rich chocolatey malts; then a drier finish with lasting bitter chocolate. A rather good fruity porter.

Cask at the Alehouse, Reading. A pale amber pour with a ring of translucent head; perfumed aroma; oddly aromatic taste, with a dry biscuity finish. Rather strange for a rugby themed beer.
