Lower Skyborry Cottage, Knighton, Powys LD7 1TW, Knighton, LD7 1TW, Wales
Description
Adam and Dani Davies make Cider, Perry and a bit of apple juice in a small shed nestled in the side of the Teme Valley a mile upstream from Knighton, Powys. The fruit is all hand harvested, from orchards around the Wye Valley, their current main source is between Hay on Wye and Bredwardine, Herefordshire. Trees are around 60-80 years old and is blessed with a good variety of apples The orchard is in good condition having spent the last 20 years managed organically for Dunkertons. They have their own orchard, which is very young, so until 2019 the apples just got put into blends - this year they managed to bottle a very small amount of single orchard cider which at some point will get a very limited release.

75cl bottle, corked & caged. Opens with a big pop and pours with a vibrant bubbly head. Settles to a murky yellow. Aroma is slight cheese and sweat. Taste is rather dry with sour apple notes and a fuzzy carbonation. Decent small-batch real cider.

Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Slightly unclear yellow color, small white head. Smellโs got a weird touch in it. Probably the sort of apples used. Hard to describe. Taste is better though. Really soft and round apple, lightly vinous flavor. Average body and carbonation.

Bag in a box @ Shrewsbury Beer Festival. A great new Welsh cider with a lovely fruity taste. Unfortunately tried this a bit late in the day so thatโs all I can remember Iโm afraid. Will try and track down a bottle and update with a more accurate rating!
