Bottle @ Café Sara. Unclear dark orange body with a medium sized, long lasting off-white head. Quite mild in aroma with a hint of caramel, berries, quite much butterscotch and something rather unpleasant I suspect might have something to do with hops. Flavor is harsh bitterness, sweet, ripe fruit and really not very pleasant at all. Medium body and a rather unpleasant aftertaste. Very close to undrinkable, and I would not have been able to finish a bottle of this. Something is definitely wrong here, will re-rate if possible.

A fine cloudy orange golden color with a fine white head. Ok lacing. Good looking. Very mild aroma. Bready and a bit fruity. Medium body and a fine balance between sweetness and bitterness. Average to soft carbonation. Bready, mild grassy and some citric notes in the flavor. Not any complex brew, but fine mild and easy drinkable.

Big offwhite head. Clear deep orange body with fast carbonation. Very faint aroma, traces of smoke and barnyard (WTF?). Sweetish smoky mealy taste with fruity notes. Very little taste. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel with lingering heat. There isn’t really any aftertaste, but it finishes with a lingering smoky buttery flavour. Traces of acidity. Weird. It doesn’t taste bad, but I have a hard time imagining they meant it to taste like this. (0.5l bottle, from Meny Oslo City. Batch #10.)

500ml bottle at Café Sara, kindly shared by OleR. Clear pitch black body. Faint, tan-coloured head. Poor lacing. Liquorice and dark malty aromas. Rather rich taste of roasted coffee and liquorice. Rounded malt bitterness to the finish. Fine bodied. Well-made version of the style (Oslo 20.06.2014).

On tap at Dale-Gudbrands Gard. It pours a lightly hazy dark golden to amber body and a thin off-white head. The aroma has a disturbing phenolic smoke touch, with pale malts, some dried fruits and a touch of alcohol. Grassy, peppery hops. The flavor has pine cones, resins and a fine bitterness, almost too much bitterness actually. Some caramel and a little bread touch, notes of dried apricots. Full body and a nice carbonation level. Slightly warming on the palate. Lasting finish. Feels a bit unclean, but there’s some qualities. 140624
