650 ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with almost no head. Aromas of yeast and resin with perhaps some notes of ginger and coriander. Not sure what is trying to be achieved - flavours of banana, resin, and wheat.

On tap. A pale, yellowish golden beer topped by a small, dense, white head. Not much aroma going on, but there’s some notes grains and fruityness. Some sweetness in the flavor, with a faint bitterness chiming in towards the end. Thin to medium bodied, perhaps a bit hard on the carbonation. Short, grainy finish. A very boring and simple brew, but far from the worst pilsener-style I’ve had. 130703

Pours with almost no head, dark gold body. Definitely strong hops on the nose, sweet and bitter, though not layered or hinting at complexity. Flavour is a swell mix with sweetness and some meaty maltiness, chewy herbs. Vague hint of alcohol on the back end. It’s highly drinkable for sure, but in this style I’d expect a lot more.

Bottle - Rich bourbon and chocolate notes. Some hints of molasses and vanilla. Dark clear amber with a foamy tan head. The barrel aging comes through and matches well with the dark ale. Not too sweet and considering, a pretty clean finish that isn’t too cloying. Whisky and roasted malts shine throughout with a mild bitterness that gives is a great mouthfeel. Pretty good, glad I have another.

Bottle - Smells of nice mellow grapefruit/pine with some wonderful balanced sweetness from the malts. Dark clear amber with a rich medium head. Very smooth and rich, with a candy like sweetness robust bitterness and long sweet finish. Piney but very well balanced. This is a great example of a IIPA, maybe not too extravagant and exciting but good. Well done Russell.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Cloudy orangey gold with mild white head. Smells of black currant, malts, and varnish/white out. Starts off bitter with a tangy sweet stonefruit taste to end. Very malty.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy dark orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, apple skins, toffee, and candied sugar. Flavour brings out dry piney hops, caramel, apple skins, and modest candied sugar. Surprisingly fairly complex, with quite a dry hoppy body, not as thick as a barley wine, so it's quite easy-drinking. Great stuff - one of Russell's best.

Bottle from Central City Liquors
Black color, with generous brown head, compact, but not too persistent. The aroma is mild, with roasted malts, and nice bread too, light firewood. The body is leaner than expected, with strong flavor of roasted malts, maybe a bit too dry, and with some salty liquorice; quite strong bitterness, and also strong alcohol perception.
It’s a roasty Imperial Stout, good, but nothing new original.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Cloudy opaque amber with a small off-white head. Odd perfumy nose, combined with some caramel. Medium body, lots of caramel, again these perfumy notes, sweet Bourbon accents – Sorachi Ace? Quite a harsh booziness and a rough bitterness. 230213
