Bottle from Legacy Liquor Store, Vancouver
Cloudy amber color with creamy head. Nice aroma, a lot of Bourbon whiskey, elegant and harmonious. Good body structure; some malt and caramel flavor, the wheat flavor is present but less than in other Wheat wines; unfortunately there is also a light sourness, and a hint of vegetables (probably the fermentation process); correct bitterness, with a light earthy final.
Not impressed.

Dark brown color with small compact head. The aroma is dusty, stale pond water. There is some flavor of roasted malt and light flavor of chocolate, but also a strong dusty character, soil, pond water, then mild spices, roasted nuts, nutmeg. Ordinary bitterness.
Not totally bad, but confused.

Bottle from Legacy, Vancouver
Hazy orange-amber color with small creamy head. Nice aroma, the hops have a earthy and animal character. Good body strength, just a bit less than beers at similar strength; good toffee flavor, some caramel, light residual sweetness; excellent hopping, with powerful resins and good fruity presence, some apricots, bitter oranges, and light cedar in the end.
Excellent and fresh.

650 ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy copper color with very little head. Strong pine and grapefruit aroma with a little dusty malts. Pretty much a PNW hops bomb, citrus, pineapple, and pine flavors, though there is enough malt there to provide some balance. Nicely covers the alcohol.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is beautifully hoppy, with orange zest, various tropical fruits, piney hops and a solid caramel malt backing. Flavour is very pleasing, with loads of dry tropical fruits, citrus zest, loads of dry floral hops, and just enough biscuity malt to hold it all together. The only negative is a slight perfumey quality which becomes more noticeable the more you drink. Full-bodied and almost chewy, with all flavours working in excellent harmony. Finishes citrus fruity, floral and dry hoppy. Russell's best by far - far surpassed my expectations.

650 ml bottle. Pours a murky brown with very light head. Aroma of paint, oak, and sour malts. Definite wood/oak/whiskey flavor with medium malts and hints of citrus. Definitely not a barley wine but interesting.
