Amber and bright though without much head. Good floral and woody hop character balanced by slightly earthy, caramelly malts. Finishes juicy - balanced and nuanced. Authentic.

Hazy medium brown. Lightly peaty aroma. Lightly peaty and caramelly character. Kind of a ho-hum beer, and not nearly as big a smoke as I would want with a name like that.

Dark brown. Nutty with a little caramel as well. Caramel accent on the palate, and a little nutty. It’s consistent, I’ll give it that. It is actually a more interesting beer than I expected it to be.

650mL bottle, split with manuchampions, Matts_Property and uhlan, pours a deep dark brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma of oak chips, vanilla, slight molasses, roasted malt and spices (cinnamon and nutmeg). Flavour of tobacco, sweetened chocolate (like an O'Henry chocolate bar), but this dies off, vanilla, no presence of the oak or spices. Nothing offensive, but neither remarkable. Solid attempt.

On tap at The Alibi Room for their 300th Beer Menu, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of sour oak chips, wheat, hay, slightly stale notes, etc. Flavour is quite astringently sour with oak / whiskey, stale malts, cardboard, rye and other "off" notes. Drinkable, but even though I'm sure this is how it's supposed to taste, it seems off.
