On tap at St. Augustine's, pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of light bitter hops, light toasted caramel and biscuit. Flavour of quite bittering and intense English hops balanced by lightly toasted English malts. Not overly thrilling though decent.

2011-03-16, draught at Pat’s Pub, Vancouver, 6-4-6-3-13=32
Dark brown color; creamy head. Served too cold, it has a light caramel and roasted malt aroma. Smooth texture; with roasted malt flavor, a bit dusty, and late caramel; light residual sweetness too. Correct bitterness, with a bit more roasty touch in the end. Not bad.

Dark chestnut color with some amber shades; creamy head. Classic aroma of the dirty water from the Vancouver city service; very light caramel and apples too. The body is leaner than expected; dry mouthfeel, caramel flavor, with a light ending minty touch; correct bitterness. Just another Brown Ale. Balanced but nothing special.

Nice jet black body with modest off-antique-white head on top. Soft aroma of wet barley. Taste is roasted barley with a hint of malt and a medium finish. Drinkable, unremarkable.

Barely any head on this one and a decent brown body. Lots of sharp hoppiness on the nose, as could be expected. Flavour is a hint of lemon and plenty of hops with a wet and bitter finish. It’s an okay IPA, but unexceptional.

Nice rising off-white head and a decent brown-amber body. Aroma is a very hoppy and bitter affair with nothing else. Flavour is hoppy bitterness with something like bone soup stock in there, and an odd meaty aftertaste. Maybe that’s where the pig on the bottle comes from. Or maybe it’s boiled egg - yeah, a boiled egg aftertaste. Either way, that aftertaste is dragging it down.

I agree, this is more of an IPA than an ESB, but they insist it is an ESB, so thats how I entered it. Sparkling amber, small beige head.Piney citrus hop nose.Citrus hop fore, light malt mid, long lasting medium hop bitterness in finish. Needs more malt backbone and less prickly carbonation for the style.

Decent clear ruby-amber body with an okay level of white head on top. Faint aroma of malts, but only faint. Decent drinkable malt taste, slightly dry and bready finish. Drinkable but unremarkable.

Nice black body, rather weak head. Vague and watery aroma of barley. Taste is a mix of coke, coffee, grass. Watery finish. This is a pretty poor porter.

Bottle. Pours a clarret color, brown head. Malt and berry aroma. Color-malt roast and a hint of milk chocolate on a otherwise not particulary chewy brew - I would put it in a brown ale category really. Not a bad one at that: Light blueberries and heatherlike hop balance. Sparly mouthfeel. Pleasant drink.
