Draught, drank at Chambar in a container akin to a glass of Coke and way too cold but I am too thirsty to wait for the beer to warm up, in fact, I have to keep my hand on the glass to get its temperature up and my hand is freezing!, savoured on February 8 2007; eye: black, opaque, creamy beige head, no effervescence; nose: odour reminding me of Cheetos, slight roasting, a bit of caramel; mouth: rather faint taste profile, a hint of acidity, silky, creamy, really short finale with a taste reminding me of cheese, fizzy, medium body, a bit thin, the cheese feeling remains even as the beer warms up; overall: disappointing, all about the look but not much in terms of nose or mouth FRANÇAIS En fût, bue chez Chambar dans un contenant ressemblant à un verre à Coke et bien trop froide mais j’ai trop soif pour attendre qu’elle réchauffe, je suis obligé de garder une main sur le verre pour réchauffer la bière et ma main est en train de geler!, savourée le 8 février 2007; oeil : noire, opaque, mousse beige crémeuse, pas d’effervescence; nez : odeur me rappelant les Cheetos, très légère torréfaction, un peu de caramel; bouche : profil de saveurs plutôt faibles, petite pointe acide, soyeuse, crémeuse, finale très courte avec une pointe de saveur me rappelant un peu le fromage, pétillante, corps moyen, un peu mince, impression fromagère se maintient même lorsque la bière gagne en température; en résumé : décevant, tout en apparence mais pas grand-chose au nez ou en bouche

Picked this on at a draft in Vancouver. It pours a rather dark copper colour, without too much in the way of head. Smells like vanilla. Tastes are of vanilla and some hops are definitely creeping about there as well. Tastes all creamy, but it is still a little on the watery side and finishes off with a funny finish.

Cloudy yellow. Light aroma of peach and pale malt. Crazy tart peach-lychee juice. Light fruity bitterness. Not entirely cohesive as a beer but good as a fruit juice.

Pale yellow colour. Light aroma is slightly flowery, with vague maltiness. Flavour is dominated by honey. Sticky sweet but light in body. Very light malt presence in the background. Like a cold honey tea. I can’t say it’s bad, but it’s pretty light and doesn’t really come together for me.

Golden-brown colour. Malty, slightly crackerlike aroma. Nutty flavour, slightly accented to sweet, with whole grain bread notes. Finish is slightly moreish with a light toffee note. The body is light, as expected for this BC riff on dark mild.

The biggest question of the day wasn’t "where’d they get the idea for this?", it was "since when did Russell make a brown ale?". But I digress. The appearance with kind of unique - muddy light brown with a slight purplish hue. The aroma is really indistinctive - you know there’s things in there but you don’t really know what any of them are. I mean, even the malt is really vague. The flavour is almost as muddled, with yeast and light esters, a slight hint of blackberry, and a little bit of heat at the end, but just a little. Basically to my palate, this is like adding accents to a beer without accents...but comes as off being accents without a base beer at all. Strange.

Found this rating from a couple of years back in an old book. Thought I would post it. Brown with large off white head.Choc malt nose and sweet creamy malt taste. No noticeable hops.
