12 oz. can, pours a lightly hazy golden orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, citrus zest, and bready malt. Flavour is fairly bright, with citrus hops, some bitter grapefruit, a little pine, with a bready malt base. Citrusy, fairly bitter, but not a hugely complex hop expression. Well-made.

Can at 8% from Tavour. Pours very dark clear brown with a modest beige/tan head. Aroma is rather toffee. Med body or so. Flavor is toffee with light spice and a touch of chocolate. There are hot bit/prickles. Drier than expected. Moderately bitter. Flavor is very nice.

Draft pour pint enjoyed at Route 2, Monroe. Bright pinkish red pour, clean and thin, loose bubble head. One of those beers where it is exactly what they say it is. Cherry. Lots of fresh cherries throughout with very little tart. Juicy for the most part. Cool front, somewhat empty finish. Seems even lighter than the modest 4% abv. Could drink a gallon of this, but somewhat away from what I look for in the style.

12 ounce can from Tavour. My 1,225 different brewery. Nearly opaque dark brown color. Frothy tan head. Toasted malt aroma hints at chocolate. Flavor is toasted malt, chocolate and mild coffee. Some nuttiness and spice. Nice flavor. Smooth and drinkable.

Nitro 4.9%. On tap. Pours black with moderate foamy nitro head. Aromas of roasted barley, and light chocolate. Flavors of same with additional creaminess from the nitro. Guinness like.

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt, plenty of caramel, and resinous hops. Flavour is sweet yet bold, with lots of caramel malt, toffee, bready malt, and resinous hops. The sweetness is there, but it's kept in check by a forceful hop presence. British barley wine? No British barley wine would be this heavily hopped. Whatever it is, it's quite tasty. Very good.

Poured from Nitro tap. Dark brown with full beige head. Roast malt, cocoa, simple, decent for the style.

5oz @ home. Appearance: almost clear copper with a tan head. Aroma: caramel, candied citruses, sweetness, some dark fruits. Taste: along the same lines, quite heavy, lots of dark fruits and caramel, a bit boozy. Finishes with noticeable hoppy bitterness. Overall: pretty nice representative of the style, but because of being quite bitter it tends to be more American BW, not a British one.

On Tap at the Bellingham brewery/taproom - K2 Black pour with a little brown head. Full dark roast aromas and flavors. Not overly bitter, balanced, big and smooth. Quite good, Imperial stout.
