Served on draft at the Sterling location on 4/30/11. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and rich coffee notes. The taste is coffee, roasted malts, faintly sweet notes and an ashy/coffee ground finish. Thin-medium bodied. Almost a good beer.

4oz pour at the Lupulin Reunuless at RFD DC. Pours an oily, opaque black with a creamy, beige head. Aromas of caramel, coffee liqueur, smoke, toasted malts, licorice, yeast. Flavor of wood pulp, malty, caramel, coffee, apples. Full bodied, boozy finish. Very unique, leeched a lot of good barrel flavors.

3.3% at the Merrifield location (2/24/11). Woah. Just woah. This beer was fantastic. I was incredibly skeptical before consuming this particular one because of it’s low ABV. It’s lower then their "light" beer after all. Well, I bit. The beer was a nice ruby brown color with a small bubbly white head that became wispy. Aroma was malty, thinner, but malty. Flavor was a bit nutty with notes of sweet malts. Perhaps one of the best session beers I have ever had.

Draft at Merrifield, VA location. Served a bit cooler than I would have liked, as it warmed the flavors came out a bit more. Poured a medium-golden yellow color with a white head. Belgian yeast, citrus lemons, touch of candy sugar, spices. Alcohol well masked.

Growler shared by Ryan (thanks!) at the RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured slightly hazy dark amber with a near white yellow brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was dark grains with a bit of caramel and grassy notes. Flavor had some more smoke combining with some roasted malts and grassy notes.

Sampled thanks to Ryan at the 2010 RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured a clear gold with a thin white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was a bit of pine and grass hops with some caramel and grain notes. Flavor balanced perfectly with some pine hops in the start which became grassy and melded nicely with the light caramel and grain notes.
