On tap at Sweetwater Tavern - Sterling. Clear pale yellow body with a small white head. Light grain aroma. Light corn and grain flavor with a long lasting corn aftertaste. Light body with high carbonation.

On tap at Merrifield location - February 27th. Apparently this was what I had instead of the "regular" version. Pours a very dark black, with a relatively small dark, almost milk chocolate, tan head. The aroma is chocolates, coffee, roasted caramel and a touch of dried fruits. Flavor has a noticeable alcohol bite, with plenty of dark chocolates and roastiness. It’s not bad (as I’ve rated it pretty highly), but my only objection was that it took quite some time to actually drink - and was not really that refreshing of a beverage. Aside from that it’s one of the best crafted beers that I’ve tried from them.

Draft at Merrifield Va location. Pours an extremely dark color - almost black. Extremely dark brown colored head. Aroma is roasty. Flavor is roasty, with touches of chocolate. It’s pretty smooth - and compliments a dinner quite well.

On tap at the Merrifield location. Appearance is a hazy golden color, with a small white head. The aroma is banana, clove, and cotton candy. The flavor is a banana one with notes of spice and a touch of rye. Relatively refreshing to be honest.

Tap at Merrifield location. Absolutely intriguing beer to say the least. When the beer is served the pint glass is covered in a candy/cookie layer. Aroma is full of spice notes and a detectable amount of bubble gum. Flavor is sweet, and not just due to the crumble on the rim of the glass. The beer does have a nice malt and hop balance, and just the right amount of carbonation. I’d say that this beer is better as a desert, and I couldn’t see myself getting more than one of these at a time, but I certainly wouldn’t mind having this one again before it’s gone.

Sampled at the Capitol City Carnival 2007. Cloudy orange body with a small white head. Sweet spicy aroma. Heavy clove flavor with a light wheat background.

Merrifield location. Hazy yellow color. Beer was suprisingly good (a little too cold, like all their beers). Aroma was a bit too weak (due to cold). Flavor was a sweet wheat flavor, with a nice amount of citrus. Pleasant.

Merrifield location. Cloudy golden/yellow color. Aroma is sweet with a bit of grass. Frankly this is one of the better pilsners I’ve had in a long time (I’m not a huge fan and they usually leave a dry, unpleasant grass taste in my mouth). Perhaps it’s because it might not have been a "true to the bone" pilsner. I liked it.

Merrifield location. Nice dark pour with a medium tan head. Frankly not a whole lot of aroma - roasted, but thats about it, nothing bad to it though. Flavor is extremely roasted, with a nice amount of chocolate, and caramel. Very creamy. Just about the only complaint was that it was probably served just a little too cold.
