Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#69. PONTORSON. End of day beer in France after a magnificent downpour from the heavens. Light golden, easy and certainly sessionable with mild tropical fruit notes, which are on the sweet side in both aroma and taste.

Deadication beer to Lehman Engel, Broadway music composer who died on this drinking day in 1982. This lemon beer is more pale ale than 'lemonade' in style and taste, but the fruit is dominant with a very low citrus bitterness about it. Not overly appealing but can stomach this one can. Blonde coloured.

Morland, although no relation to the name of the beer is a pretty village in Cumbria. I had the Morland Old Session Hen prior to this beer and the difference in body is the first thing of note for me, this is much fuller bringing out the caramels more in this instance. Still quite hoppy, a little less bitterness than the aforementioned but there's still enough of this evident here. Clear deeper amber colour, not much of a head.

On average less than 10 people in the UK die from a bee or wasp sting per year. It's a colourful insect coloured yellow-orange, hazy and almost juice-like in appearance. Somewhat soapy in texture, it's quite full in its tropical and stone fruit mixed taste, and fair in aroma too.

'Hen' is a 400 year old Scottish term for a lady, more widely known in the term 'hen party'. Probably not one you want too much at a party, it's a little dull for that but a quieter session then it's not bad, with a more dominant hop than malt billing, both are evident. There's a mid-bitterness attached to this traditional styled beer.

Watching one of four Scottish teams in a week of failure for all of them in European football as the background to this Pinkish-red coloured very sweet effort. It has a heavy red and dark berry flavour, feels artificial, feels very familiar to other macro choices of this ilk. If youโre looking for positives it has an easy strength and texture.
