Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#54. LEHON. Drank with lunch in the castle grounds above the picture perfect village in the river Rance valley. Bought this directly off the brewer at the market in Dinan. A fruity and tropical aroma, which is better here than in its taste, however the citrus in here is tasty enough and includes a mild floral influence.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#53. LEHON. Bought directly off the Germany-born brewer at a stall at the Thursday market in Dinan, consumed in the gorgeously old valley village of Lehou in its sunny castle grounds with lunch. Slightly breaded wheat style, but pretty decent.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#52. ST MALO. Last beer of the day within the wall of the St Malo after spending the afternoon exploring the Breton city. Hazy pale yellow with a very thin head. It's a sweet citrus brew in both aroma and taste, but a palatable strength and texture to match. Nice pale ale style found in its aftertaste.

Another version has found its way to my local. Very dark red with a creamy head. Its coffee is heavy but not overbearing, this dryish in both aroma and taste.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#51. ST MALO. Second beer at L'Alambic within the city walls. Golden, glowing with no head. It's a pale lager and quite hoppy with a mild strawberry-style sweetness and aroma.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#50. ST MALO. Enjoyed on a lovely still sunny evening within the citadel walls. Had a bit of trouble translating this brew as to what it was as the pump clip just said guest... in French! My host provided some clues to this red-berry pale ale, but still had to research which brew from the brewer. It's not a stated fruit pale but there's more than enough in both aroma and taste to enjoy, and the pale ale texture is pleasant too. Hazy purple-red colour.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#49. ST MALO. Second evening beer inside the citadel. Golden with a creamy head. It's quite a smooth tasting, fruity aroma brew, with its strength providing a good body here. It's a little more regular in taste, but still decent in this respect.

The oldest military monument in the USA commemorates Captain Richard Somers. Hazy pale golden with a creamy head. Citrus tropical fruit in both aroma and taste, very low citric bitterness as verging on sweet here. A little creamy, this comes across in aroma too.

One travel regret I have is I could have seen Fidel Castro on Cuba's annual National Day parade, exactly 24 years ago today, but I had a lie-in, in Havana instead. This beer helps the reminiscing, it's lovely and smooth in the palate, with plenty of body for its strength. Hints of citrus and a mild strewed fruitiness, quite warming stuff really.
