Appearance - opaque jet black with a thin crema head. Not much carbonation.
Nose - molasses and raisins, a bit of soy sauce or tapenade.
Taste - dried fruit, particularly raisins, honey and a bit of PX.
Palate - full bodied, peppery spice from the barrel and then sweet.
Overall - lovely stuff.

Nose - a bit of cinnamon, burnt wood and buttery popcorn.
Taste - chocolate sauce, cinnamon and light peppery from the wood.
Palate - medium to full bodied, sweet middle and dry-ish finish.
Overall - rich but elegant.

Taste - prunes, syrup and raisins. Some vanilla.
Palate - dark chocolate, syrup and prunes.
Overall - full bodied, boozy though a wee bit thin.

Nose - burnt toffee, praline and nougat, dates, raisins and chocolate.
Taste - booze, then peppery spice with raisins and dates.
Palate - full bodied, peppery spice with a long and elegant finish.

Nose - nougat and wood. A hint of Calvados.
Taste - praline and nougat, hazelnut, toffee and sweet chocolate.
Palate - rich and full bodied, very sweet.
Overall - yes, hits the spot!

Nose -
Taste - figs, chocolate, dates, raisins, hazelnuts and light booze.
Palate - like a fruit n nut bar engulfed in lovely boozy beer.
Overall - full bodied, sweet and rich.

Bottle thanks to Stuu's muling it from Chicago.
Appearance - lively, slight gush, like Coca Cola. One or two floaters.
Nose - honey, molasses, Blackjacks, burnt toffee.
Taste - molasses mainly, cola, Kendal Mint Cake.
Palate - medium bodied, tangy and rich, fizzy texture.
Overall - didn't pour well, but got better and better.

Appearance - brown with a beige to tan head.
Nose - tangy red fruit, dried orange, brown bread and light toffee.
Taste - red fruit through the middle of the palate, dry brown bread and toffee.
Palate - medium bodied, accidentally sour?
Overall - in two minds about this.

Appearance - fairly clear, slight haze and still, of course.
Nose - cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, sweet apples and lebekuchen.
Taste - sweet spices and lebekuchen again.
Palate - medium bodied, sweet spice and fairly elegant finish.
Overall - lovely stuff.
