Backlog June 2009 (2004 vintage). Clear reddish brown body under a small, pale beige head. Aroma has malt, dry fruit, caramel and vinous alcohol. Taste is sweet, rich malt, dry fruit, balanced bitterness and warming alcohol. Perfect body with long lasting, sweet aftertaste. A nice and solid American barley wine.

Backlog June 2009. Reddish brown body under a dense beige head. Strong aroma of malt, ripe fruit, caramel and alcohol. Taste is sweet malt, dry fruit, wood, alcohol and slightly harsh bitterness. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste. Several positive elements here, but ends up a bit raw and unfinished imo.

Backlog June 2009. Dark reddish brown body under a small brown head. Aroma has chocolate, roasted malt and alcohol. Taste is surprisingly smooth with roasted, dark malt, chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, warming alcohol and balanced bitterness. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste.

Backlog June 2009. Reddish golden body under a dense beige head. Strong aroma, complex and vinous. Malt, dry fruit, Sherry and alcohol. Taste is sweet and malty with sweet malt, vinous alcohol, dry fruit, some caramel and warming alcohol. Full bodied. Quite heavy but nice.

Can@ home. Almost clear brown body under a big, foamy tan head. Nice aroma of malt, chocolate, toffee and a touch of red berries. Taste is slightly sour with malt, light caramel, hint of chocolate and moderate bitterness. Not what I consider an American brown ale.

Can@ home. Unclear golden body under a huge, foamy white head. Aroma has malt, Belgium yeast, spicy and a bit floral. Taste is balanced sweet malt, biscuit, slightly fruity bur more in the direction of grassy/herbal/floral hops. Nice bitterness. Balanced body with a bitter aftertaste. Refreshing.

Can@ home. Dark amber, almost black body under a huge, foamy beige head. Aroma of dark, mild roasted mal and pine. Taste is sweet, moderate roasted dark malt, dry fruit, pine and balanced bitterness. Balanced body with a fine aftertaste. Smooth, nice, classic black IPA.

Backlog June 2009 as La Maitrsss Du Moine (9% ABV). Dark brown/amber body under a small beige head. Aroma has malt, dry fruit, chocolate and caramel. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, chocolate, quite strong dark fruit and some kind of slightly sour bitterness similar to strong, bitter coffee. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Nice one.

Backlog June 2009. Dim reddish brown body under a dense off-white head. Aroma is mild caramel malt and slightly fruity. Taste is sweet caramel malt, medium bitterness. Medium body and average aftertaste. A tad below average dubbel.
