Bottle (Cellars Bentleigh). Dirty amber with a 2cm off white head. Light sweet smoke, bread, soft herbal notes. Lively, maybe a bit too fizzy. More delicate smoke works because the beer lacks the grunt of the normal Märzen. Still, pretty deep with a long, smokey bitter finish.

Can, Carnegie Cellars. Nearly black, a 1/2cm of light tan head that's soon less than a coat. Aroma of chocolate, brandy, roast, coconut fudge. Silky, medium low carbonation. Toddy-like coconut and brandy with roast and chocolate almost pushed into the background. Not all that sweet considering, with alcohol not quite overt but lurking close by. Nice, coherent.

Can. Almost black, a cm of beige head that hangs around a while. Bready and roasty aroma with orange and spices. Some puine and maybe grapefruit in the taste just about stops it from being more like a porter. Not that it matters. Bitterness is decisive.

Bottle at Taste Hunan City. Orange, brief white head. Sweet and fairly bland but clean enough. Puts out the fire and that's about it.

Can. Misted gold with a soon gone wisp of white. Aroma of tropical fruit jellies, pine, crackers. Lowish carbonation. A really nice mix of tropical and NZ fruity flavours with a decent whack of pine and fairly plain malt to support. Building bitterness lingers. Interesting how recognisable their approach is already.
