minutemat Profile - Brewver (Dev)

Stopped here on a bike ride, conveniently located near to a river bike path coming back into Frankfurt. A traditional German restaurant that's been in the same family for a number of generations and produced it's own cider the entire time. Friendly English-speaking girl welcomed us in. By the entrance there's their full range of cider to take away in handy 25cl bottles as well as 75cl, plus some jams they make themselves and their own bembel jugs and glassware. Unusually for an apfelwein restaurant they do a variety of strong ice ciders in addition to the standard 7% cider, plus one blended with chardonnay! Unfortunately our server (seperate to the aforementioned girl) was a little rude and short tempered with us leaning our bikes against their car park wall (no bike racks) and took a good ten minutes to bring us menus, so I just got a mixed 6-pack to go. Regardless of this, for the variety alone I'd say this is worth the effort to search out.

25cl bottle from Schuch's Restaurant, Frankfurt. Pours a clear gold. Big Chardonnay presence.. bold sweet grape, sticky syrup moments on the palate with green apple in the background. Quite nice, and can't ever recall having a cider blended with chardonnay before!

330ml bottle from Maschghasem, Frankfurt. Pours a generally clear gold. Aroma brings lemon with some malt extract. Fairly mild radler flavour profile, pleasant lemon presence, a touch sticky, but generally ok.

500ml bottle in Sommerhof Park, Frankfurt looking for red squirrels. Pours a cloudy blonde, medium white head. Gentle weiss yeast on the nose. Flavour profile is generally quite mild, some pillowy fluff, some straw, light fruity tangents but a gentle weiss sipper overall.

375ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a generally clear reddish pink, frothy off-white head with specks of yeast gunk. Aroma brings a cherry sweetness, coarse hints. Not quite as sharp as expected to taste but still a decent thorny cherry character coming through. Just lacks the wow factor of others of its ilk.

25cl bottle. Bought out of pure curiosity. My God this is bad. Rich syrupy sweet gunk. Tastes about 10% ABV but only 6. Why was this made??
