Black with a beige head. Straightforward with coconut, vanilla, light roasted bits, oatmeal, chocolate, and a bit of caramel. Full, creamy body. Finish is sweet with more coconut and vanilla. Sweet but restrained. Not a sugar bomb. Pleasant.

Brown with minimal tan head. Very similar to the classic version. Sweet malty notes, nutty, chocolate, caramel, a bit of oak and some sherry. This version is less sweet and I appreciate that. Body is full but again, not as full as expected. Very nice.

Dark pour with a small head. Big sweet notes, plum, red fruits, malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, sweet nuts. Full mouth but not as thick as the 14% would lead you to believe. Booze is well-hidden throughout. A classic for a reason. 2022 edition.

A small shop with lots of convenience type goods along with beer. A couple small coolers and hte rest is stored warm and in large windows. Was suspect of the quality but grabbed a couple that weren’t in the direct sun. They all drank fine. Some lambics along with more standard Belgians. The guy that manned the shop was friendly enough. Not a must hit but a decent last resort for some beers- just be aware of the potential sun damage.

Lovely location right on the river. Large selection of beers though I mostly stayed with the house brews, which were fine though maybe not exceptional. Service was nice and helped us move around when it started to rain. The meat/cheese/bread plate was nice and accompanied the beer well. Worthy of a stop for a beer or two.

Nice location with plenty of outdoor seating. The area can get lively in the evenings but that makes for some entertaining times. Bottle selection is extensive- had some vintage lambics and other nice stuff. Taps were pouring a great range of beers. Hard to go wrong here and one can easily stay longer than planned.

The famous shoe bar- we stopped in a couple times while in Ghent. Once we sat outside and once inside. The outside is nice cause you are on the square and hte inside is nice though a bit of a touristy feel to the bar. Drank some vintage Orvals, the whole Westy lineup (cause why not?) and some others. We did not give up our shoe for a Kwak though many did. Service was good. Worth a stop.
