Just a light haze on this gold beer, good size and, a refreshingly persistent pale cream colour head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light smooth pale malts, mildly thin bodied but, bringing a decent creamy sweetness. The 2 modern hops and the reliable old warhorse bring a light but entertaining hop profile. With both Sabro and HBC1019, you might think this would be a coconut APA. Coconut certainly evident but the other aspects of these hops are not washed out, light pineapple and lime. Citra lurks in the background and fills in some of the gaps. A light smooth finish brings a very mild hop itch. Nice one. Would have liked even more hop intensity, a la old skool Kernel, but this apa sings nicely.

Near clear paleish gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy smooth palate, decent fine carbonation. Light pale malts, a light creamy sweetness. Light cooling pine, pretty smooth. A persistent bitterness that I have not noted from this hop previously. Mild lemonade on the back end along with a touch of floral lemon. The light finish brings a touch of Schwepps bitter lemon and a pinch of hop spice. Refreshing, good to drink on a hot day. Was hoping for more of the core hop character though, still, lemon is probably the one thing that really needs to come from this hop and it does here.

Bottle, rather expensive one all told. A slightly muddy looking brown - amber beer, with a short lived pale tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, decent fine carbonation. The palate rides in simpatico with the smooth rich caramel and cream malts, a really nice creamy element. The rum barrelling is smooth but very forward and, pleasingly ester free. Soft smooth but rich and spicy ripe fruits with an overcoat of rum and a little oak induced vanilla. Smooth but light touches of coffee and dark chocolate. Soft rich ripe fruity finish carries the rum spice on for a bit. Well then, this was a very pricey BW. But, confirmation bias aside, it's very much worth it. Super duper, and could drink this until things started shutting down. 2 pints should do it!

Can. Of course, there was a time, that everyone, me included, were chasing round like madmen, to try the early versions of this beer. It was like someone in old Blighty finally got what the Yanks had been doing for some time. It influenced a ton of breweries and freed up fanatics like me. I no longer had to trade with the US to get good hoppy beers, finally they were home grown by a number of breweries! An ocean of water under the bridge since then or course. Cloudwater can still challenge for the belt on their best day but, they are no longer a guaranteed finalist in my book, haven't been for a long old while. So, enough flim flam, was does V18 of this venerable series taste like. A hazy orange gold beer, with a small but tidy pale cream colour head. Fairly airy palate, decent fine minerally carbonation on the back end. Soft pale malts, a nice light and smooth creamy sweetness. Smooth cooling pine. Slightly tangy but bright citrus. Some Riwaka in here? A slightly salty lychee says yes to me but can't be sure as so often happens with Cloudwater, there is no hop detail on the can. Don't know why, don't care, just find it Brewdog style arrogant. Good stone fruits on the back end, a twist of enlivening lime. A mild but pleasing savoury skunk. Smooth finish. A superior dipa then but, brewed by a brewery than often irritates me these days. Not the first I have felt like that.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, a decent but short lived bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, quite light, mildly dry, late emerging decent fine carbonation. Fluffy pale malts, trade of grain but, mostly a light creamy sweetness. Hops bring cooling pine, a very mild hop itch and a mild but reasonably juicy citrus backed up by decent peachy stone fruits, courtesy of Eclipse I would assume. A mild hop itch on the back end. Tidy and drinkable dipa.

Thin bodied pale malts, a decent creamy sweetness is imparted anyway. Light cooling pine. A very mild hop spice nibble. Soft but reasonably juicy orange and mandarin citrus. Light but tangy finish. Tidy but unremarkable. Like being Adele in the 1970s, no one would have taken a blind bit of notice because the bar was so much higher.

Can. Hazy paleish orange gold beer, mahoosive fluffy pale cream colour head makes me worried. This is a 3 to 1 head to beer ratio. Airy palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Fluffy pale malts, quite a forward creamy sweetness. Light cooling pine. Reasonably bright citrus, slightly tangy. Juicy and slightly peachy citrus. No sour off flavours that the big head might suggest. Airy semi dry finish. Pleasant but lacks a hop edge.

Soft cooling pine, tangy citrus, reasonably bright. Light finish. Should have drunk this some time ago but I believe I have the hop experience to back track this to a decent affair, if a little tangy.

Light bodied pale malts, smooth and bringing a fairly bold creamy sweetness. Smooth cooling pine. A decent amount of hop citrus, slightly tangy and sharp but, it works quite well against the malts. The back end brings the stone fruits and tropical fruits to the fore, along with a little hop spice bite. Nice broad spectrum dipa. A game of 2 halves and both were most entertaining.

The back end brings the stone fruits and tropical fruits to the fore, along with a little hop spice bite. Nice broad spectrum dipa. A game of 2 halves and both were most entertaining.
