From the German word for “Bright”, our golden lager displays a floral hop aroma with a bready malt balance. Traditional in style, Helles is brewed with Pilsner Malt to produce a dry, snappy finish while Perle and Tettnanger hops create a spicy, herbal hop aroma. The result is an incredibly clean, yet complex, lager.

Can. Grainy malt aroma with notes of straw, spicy hops, herbal hops and grassy hops. Pours clear pale golden colored with a thin white head that has little retention and very little lacing. Starts with grainy malt, spicy and herbal hops flavors. Finishes crisp and refreshing with straw and grassy hop flavors. Decent helles.

My can looks different than the one shown, its mostly green. Pale yellah. Nose is straight up clean lager with perhaps a hint of citrus. Yes, first taste is helles, and a bit bitter but its not as up front on the cloying aspect as many poorly made examples in domestic helles. Chewy on the palate. Solid in the old country euro vein. Decent and like-able, even with its slight bitter bite. For its identified style, this is well founded, valid, sound, weighty, authoritative, convincing & cogent.

Pour is a clear light blonde with a large white head. Aroma is fresh baked white bread with a little lemon. Flavor is more white bread malt with a crisp biting bitter hop. This was decent but a bit Americanized with the bitter hops.

Not bad, but on the bland side for a Helles, with a moderate grainy sweetness and some apple, lemon, and white bread, but never quite develops a deeper complexity like a great lager should. Finishes crisp with a slight floral bitterness. Decent.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a full 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Lovely aromas of mineral and bread. Dried honey, bread and light mineral on the palate. Very enjoyable.

12oz can best by 12/11/23, drunk 8/22/23. Clear, bright golden. Large, white head falls steadily to light cover. Nose shows ample hopping with herbal and pepper notes not overdone on top of rich honey-like malts. Gentle mineral/crisp lager yeast on the clean finish. Soft and malty, with hints of almost syrupy sweetness. As gross as that sounds, I think it's just the well-extracted malt and probably forced carbonation. Am pretty spoiled that I'm usually drinking keg-conditioned helles on draught these days so this one had a little bit looser carbonation leading to a more concentrated maltiness. Still appropriately attenuated with gentle, but appropriate hop bitterness and enjoyable herbal and peppery flavors.
