Sampled after a vertical tasting of some Boon VAT including VAT 108bis. Almost clear golden under a nice, medium sized white head. Medium carbonation. Aroma is distinct funky with citric fruit, apples and nice acidity. Nice, funky and tasty, my favorite from the monobelnd seeries

Vertical tasting of VAT 91, VAT 92, VAT 108 and VAT 110. VAT 91 – slightly unclear golden body under a small white head. Nice funky aroma with citric fruit, apple cider and ripe apple with cellar notes. Many elements from a classic Geuze but has the more distinct sweet and sour taste from a unblended Lambic. VAT 92 – Same appearance as VAT 91 and much of the same flavors, a bit more on the fresh apple than ripe, some more citric fruit and hint of bitter citric zest. At the same time the overall impressive is slightly milder and more balanced than 91. Still, I prefer the 91 that I find with slightly more distinct flavors. VAT 108 – Sama appearance as VAT 91 but more lively carbonation and foamier. Aroma as more distinct cellar notes, taste is more acidic and all in all this taste closer to a regular Geuze than the others. Fresher expression, more complexity and smoother with more balance. Very nice and tasty. VAT 110 – Slightly darker golden body than the rest. Less fruity and more wood flavor than the others. The wood feels almost a bit harsh in aftertaste, assume it’s actually notes from the Cognac that might emphasize the taste of wood. Nice enough, but compared with the others this is the less preferred version.

Power tasting at Phill's, bottle
Hazy, bright dark blond colour. The aroma is very funky and pungent, as I like in a Gueuze. Dry, very funky, strong Lambic character, very light cheese, and relatively sharp acidity too. Very good.

Corked bottle, Sergey's hunt
Hazy golden colour. Of the series, this is the one with strongest aroma, more funky, with lots of citrus peel, more acidity, enough true Lambic character.
Wonderful.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with loads of barnyard funk, some horse blanket, and leather. Flavour is full of barnyard funk, a touch of acidic character, leather, and a little alcohol. The funk is much more potent and elegant on the nose. A little too sharp on the acidity, but this is indeed very nice.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of barnyard funk, with light leather, and faded cardboard. Flavour is along the same lines, with barnyard funk, light leather, some earthy and some pleasant acidity. Complex and nicely balanced, but not as complex as 91 and 92 (which I just had). Excellent.

Bouteille (Best before 20/12/2036): Golden to deep golden, astonishingly clear, lively carbonation, small but stable white creamy head, distinctive sour nose of malic acid with a solid musty-cellary background; robust sour and also distinctive tart-bitter flavour, tart as stated, quite slim, hardly medium bodied; lingering solid dry malic and cellary finish. Just great...

Mycket gott.
Earlier Rating: 4/16/2018 Total Score: 4.2
Flaska från mixpack. Disig gyllengul med högt vitt skum. Frisk, syrlig och funkig doft. Mycket fat, trätoner, lite läder, lätt sälta, annars typiska gueuzesmaker. Ganska lätt anslag och snäll syra. Riktigt gott.

375 ml bottle, bb 28/11/20138, shared by Werckmeister, thanks! Amber-orange, moderate hazy body, with a small, yellowish head. Aroma of wood, moderate cheesy funk, citrus, stone fruits, some horse blanket. Tastes quite similar, with more horse blanket and more apricot. Finishes dry, wooden, moderate acidic, fruity, citric, a bit funky, with some apricot. Tasty. Really smooth and well balanced, while nothing spectacular, a quite typical Geuze. Really nice wood and apricot notes. Not my favorite one from the VAT series, but among the better ones. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16
