We teamed up with Miami's J. Wakefield Brewing to create another Italian dessert inspired decadent stout! This time we captured elements of Tiramisu in this Imperial Stout with five hundred pounds of Lady Fingers from Salem, Massachusetts based AJs Bakery, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, Brown Sugar, and coffee from Mostra & Barrington.

Tiramisu leads with powerful aromas of deeply roasted coffee, rich dark chocolate, vanilla, and a backbone of freshly baked cake and subtle caramelized brown sugar. The palate continues with more dark chocolate, vanilla, brownie batter, and heavy, creamy coffee. A thick, viscous, latte-like mouthfeel leaves a coating on the glass and lingering, satisfying sweetness in the mouth.

750ml bottle pours a muddy brown/black with a ring of ecru head. Nose is weird, green olives, green bell pepper, malt, molasses, some coffee liqueur. Flavor is green olives and jalapeno, malt, licorice, molasses, some cookie maybe. Full bodied, boozy, sweet. Waaaaay over hyped. 5 3 5 3 8

750 ml bottle thanks to ClarkVV. Pitch black appearance. Flavor and aroma are a mirror of each other. Gosh damn, that is great. Mild subtle chocolate. They say they used Lady Finger cookies (interesting). Coffee shows throughout the sip. Light vanilla, and a Bitterness. Vanilla is not overdone. Nice balance. The body is full with a nicely dry texture. Lactose is in this brew but it is not overly sweet in any way. Booze is masked very nicely. Wow, again, great stout! One of the best I have had this year.

Multiple glasses on draught at their 5th Anniversary, 3/18/18.
Dark ebony, seemingly opaque, with a small, tan head that quickly fades to cover/ring.
Oh ya. That's niiiice. Rich fudge, vanilla, molasses, biscuit and maraschino cherry are rich, yet fairly well-balanced with acidity almost matching the sugar. Like Affogato, it's huge, wrapping about the nostrils and providing lasting coffee, sweet malt and vanilla-fudge. Here, however, I get more dry mocha, dark chocolate and a touch more balancing roast. To me, it's every bit as full and rich, yet the significantly lower abv and thus gravity, allows for less of a sugar onslaught, allowing more complexity to arise and finding more fruitiness and acidity which really lengthen and deepen the nose. And inevitably, alcohol is less prevalent, with cherry, vanilla, raisin and molasses lingering on alongside fruity, moderately roasty coffee.
In the mouth it's rich and sweet, of course, with a powerful, thick body and gentle, but tight carbonation. Cherry-vanilla, biscuit, dark chocolate and moderate amounts of caramel-fudge all provide a big intensity of flavor. As the aroma hints at, while there's about as much interesting and powerful flavor as Affogato, it dries out just a touch more on the finish, with crusty mocha, dark chocolate and long, dry vanilla notes mixing with prune, cherry and molasses. Alcohol is well-concealed and the beer is shockingly balanced, though of course still on the sweet side (it is a dessert stout, afterall). Really f--kin nice and in retrospect, my favorite (though by only a bit) of the four in the series, thus far.
