Sampled from bottle at Borefts 2017. Slightly hazy, deep red. Sourish-fruity, quite funky aroma of raspberry, horseblanket and some strawberry. Quite sour, very fruity and quite funky taste of lemon, raspberry, strawberry and some barnyard, followed by a medium long, rather tart, woody-dry and funky finish. Thin to medium body, quite astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!

Tommie Sjef has produced a wide range of fruited, barreled sour ales, and this is the one with blueberries, sampled at BXL Beerfest. Thick and moussy but irregular, pale ’dirty’ off-pinkish head over a hazy ruby red beer with ’dirty’ purplish tinge. Aroma of sour and lightly spicy blueberry juice, unsugared yoghurt, stale sweat, sherry, redcurrant, cassis, fermenting plums. Lots of fruit acidity, blueberry juice mingled with the basic properties of the wild fermentation, but a mildly spicy and - a bit further on - even rounded sweetish blueberry and very subtly blueberry jam impression shows up, nevertheless remaining very sour, astringent and a bit vinegary all through, on a soft bready underbuilt; medium carbonation, supple, drying sourness in the finish, very quenching with some woody tannins but also the expected tannins of the blueberry skins and seeds. Very satisfying if you’re into sour ales.
