STYLE: Japanese-style rice lager

A super dry and crisp rice lager, brewed with our pals from Otherworld Brewing. Hana malt brings a crisp, clean toasty flavour while yuzu fruit brings a pithy, zesty citrus edge.

440ml can. Crystal clear pale yellow, white head. Aroma of yuzu, pale malts, grains. Taste starts with a good whack of yuzu, grainy pale malts, peppery hop spice, citrus peel bitter finish.

Can. Bright clear paleish gold beer, a small pale cream colour head that, at least, has some legs on it - timewise. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thin bodied pale malts, a perfumey sweetness that may well be rice borne. The yuzi comes through on back end. That hard-to-define mandarin, limey, grapefruity whatchamacallit citrus, here, a tad thin but, with a nice black pepper streak. Crisp finish. Promising concert, reasonably well delivered. A few tweaks, this could be a really good brew.

Can direct from Fierce. It pours clear very pale lemon yellow with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is toasty grains, rice cakes, fragrant, peppery spice, cracker, savoury character and zesty citrus. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, pithy, zesty, yuzu peel, waxy rind, slightly soapy, minerality, peppery spice, cracked black pepper crisps, fragrant, toasty grains and herbal accents with a drying, peppery finish. Light to medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Interesting combo. Wish the yuzu was brighter and he beer a touch less peppery. Decent anyhow.
