Fles gedeeld met en Nick. Het is een troebel roodbruin bier met een medium beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van rood fruit. De smaak is zoet en fruitig met tonen van eiken, caramel en vanille.

Deep brick red with a thin head. Sour cherry, light spice, deep caramel, prune, red fruits, raisin, wood, light vanilla. Full, slick body. Finish has a light twang to it. Very interesting and complex beer. A bit hard to pin down. Lovely.

Rating #10,000: 0.33 l bottle from 'Hetbiermoment.nl', bottled in May 2025. Slightly hazy, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of molasses, caramel, chocolate, raisins, cherry, prunes, some vanilla and a touch of alcohol. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and a little vinous taste of molasses, caramel, chocolate, cherry, raisins, prunes and vanilla, followed by a long, moderately bitter, warming finish. Almost full-bodied, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Delicious brew, quite complex, could be a little more viscous. Not the masterpiece I hoped for but still a solid sipper.

Bottle thanks to Stuu666.
Appearance - deep brown but translucent.
Nose - dried fruit, maybe raisins or sultanas, then dried orange peel. Some cherry.
Taste - toffee, cherry and figs. Some desiccated coconut from the barrel at the very back end.
Palate - medium bodied, great acidity from the cherries, lightly boozy and persistent finish.
Overall - assume base is a strong ale. Great beer!

Just a light haze on this dark amber - brown beer, a small bubbly tan head retreats to the rim of the glass in short order. Pretty light palate given the hefty abv, it's mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, fairly light bodied for this massive brew. A little caramel and cream, whisper of chocolate. A spicy boozy mid with some alcohol warmth. The back end brings smooth rich boozy cherry, both sweetish and fairly juicy. A smooth slightly viscous finish leaves a cherry spicy linger and a touch of candy cherry. Different. I don't think I have ever had a brew like this and, that has to be down to the highly unusual barrell. It's also bloody drinkable for the abv. I think I could have drunk a 750 of this without incident, well until I tried to stand up. Memorable beer from Menno the master.
