Chimay Yellow is a refreshing beer that immediately offers rich aromas, with elegantly harmonious spicy and fruity notes. 750 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, huge white head. Aroma of malts, white kandij sugar syrup, "spicy" Belgian ale yeast and stewed yellow plums. Flavour with the same elements, also citrus and moderate bittering hops. Good beer.

75 cl-flaska från SB. Disig gyllengul vätska med högt krämigt och stabilt skum. Ser mycket vacker ut i en remmare. Försiktig belgojästig doft med estrar och fläder. Mjuk och lätt kropp, lättdrucken, lätt kryddad med lite koriander, curaçao och lätta bananvibbar. Även söta päron och marsipan. Gott

Pours hazy blonde. Scent is full on BE yeast aromas, banana up front, but in a way, smooth and likeable. Taste is surprisingly bitter. Full on banana and bubble gum in the aroma - bit too mich for me. Def took a hit in it's maltyness. Bitterness gets compensated by residual sweetness. Ok.

330ml bottle. Minimally milky, yellow-ish, golden colour with average, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Mildly yeasty spicy, yeasty fruity and floral aroma, pale malty background, some chamomile, apricot, mirabelle, whiffs of coriander and wasabi. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally biscuity, pale malty, yeasty spicy and yeasty fruity, slightly citrusy fruity hoppy and minimally floral, notes of apricot and mirabelle, lemon and mandarine, coriander and wasabi, some chamomile, a touch of honey.
Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, dense, prickly carbonation.
Very nice composition, fairly complex, nevertheless highly drinkable, quite hoppy and "modern" for a Trappist Ale - good.
Didn't really know what to expect from this. In the end it is no surprise that Chimay delivers at a decent level of quality. Everything else would do harm to the brand, of course. Somehow more Witbier than Belgian Blond and therefore maybe wrong labeled. Could have been a disappointment but isn't.
