The second release from our barrel project, a Barrel Aged American Barleywine. Using our 2023 American Barleywine as the base beer, we let it age for 20 months in ex-Penderyn House Style Whisky barrels which had also previously held Madeira
fortified wine.

Panda thanks to Cloin. A mild haze on this dark amber brown beer, small and short lived pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation on the back end. Light bodied malts, a light cream and caramel. Mild alcohol spice. Smooth whiskey soaked ripe fruits. The previous Madeira barrel adds another layer of fruity richness. Smooth finish. Drinks very light this 13% barleywine but, light doesn't mean lacking taste. Good stuff.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 19/07/2025.
Wax seal nightmare ... then one of those dumb oversize bottle tops thats an equal shit to open!
Deep, slightly unclear, chestnut brown topped with a light beige cap that dissipates to a swirl.
Nose is dates, figs, tobacco, mellow whisky barrel, toffee.
Taste comprises liquid fruit cake, toffee, toasted brown sugar, vinous, nip of madeira, figs, booze, whisky stained oak.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid sipper if falling a little short of that top drawer life.
