Bottle. Aroma fruity, hoppy, orange, citrus, lychee. Clear orange colour. Fruity hoppy flavour, same as above, fresh crisp. High bitterness, but also decent balancing sweetness. Long fruity hoppy finish. Very good.

Tap at Keg, Nagoya (as "Shiga Kogen Beer House IPA"). Amber color, small white head. Very piney, fresh hoppy aroma. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Piney, resiny bitterness. Hops are overpowering weakish maltyness. Ok.

Bottle at home in London. Thanks to Tim for this one. Pours hazy, rich orange-gold, fairly effervescent with a large, frothy white head. Lovely aroma, lots of ripening citrus fruits, grapefruit, mandarin orange, touches of doughy pale malts. Medium sweet flavor with further rich citrus, some juicy melon, cantaloupe, grapefruit, mango and papaya, some bitter pine, plastic grass. Medium to full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderately resinous to finish, some faintly pithy citrus, more grapefruit, mango, peach. Very tasty. Good balance for the strength.

Draft at Bungalow’s 1st Anniversary Shiga Kogen Tap Takeover event. 8% a nice clear gold color with a foamy white head. A really nice floral/herbal aroma, tasty! Smooth, lightly carbonated body, citrus, sweet sugary light caramel, white grape & a herbal hop finish. Nice easy drinking stuff at 8%. A pleasant surprise. ---update Jan 2013--- On tap at Arcadian, 650 yen for 200ml. Great orange gold color, 1 cm of off-whit filmy head. Aroma of citrus, pine & resin - classic west coast hops. The body is medium-full, smooth & slightly slick. The taste puckers your mouth with bitter grapefruit, pine & resins notes it really lives up to the nose. It has a lingering bitter finish that veers more towards the pine/resin flavors. Really good stuff, an exceptionally solid IPA.

Bottle bought on Good Beer.JP and brought back from Tokyo by the wife. Pours a mostly clear copper color with a medium white head. A fruity nose with orange peel and marmalade. A really good flavor of intense citrus, some resin even, bitter enough but not a generally bitter product, biscuit and lingering zest and bitterness on the palate in the finish. Very damn good.

No head, pale orange-yellow beer. Flowery hops, suggesting serious bitterness, citrussy. Bitter, resiny & piney hops, but not really harsh. Orangepeel finish. Not heavily bodied at all, but sufficient, slick, oily; well-carbonated. More than decent IPA. Again a good example of what is happening in Nippon.

Bottle, at Patricks. it pours a minimal sized off-white head over a hazy dark golden body. The aroma is on the hoppy side with pale malts in the back. Pine cones, citrus peel and a faint touch of vegetables. The flavor goes down the same road, piney and resiny flavors dominates with it’s bitterness, leaving the pale malts to a place in the back seat, where they do just what they are supposed to. It’s full bodied and deliciously dry, finishing bitter. I don’t like the little vegetal touch, but fortunately that’s only in the aroma. Else it’s a fine one, tasteful and quenching and it goes down almost too easily. 100213
