"Mamma Mia", a collaboration beer with Birrificio Italiano which should taste like a rhubarb pie. Brewed with loads of rhubarb, some spices and butter and butterscotch aroma.

Pours a muddy looking brown from a bottle. Aroma is sugar, light yeasty dough. Flavor is sweet rhubarb, a little tart, biscuit, and a metallic finish. Okay beer. Why is this one a spice/herb/vegetable beer? I know that botanically the edible part of rhubarb is a vegetable, but it's typically treated as a fruit (i.e. treated as a fruit in desserts such as pies, to refer to this beer's label). RB appears to follow how a food is "treated", not just what it technically is. For instance, pumpkin beers are generally treated as s/h/v, but are technically fruits, as are peppers (think of habañero and jalapeño beers). Food for thought.

Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is rhubarb, yoghurt, a touch butterscotch indeed. Taste is intense natural rhubarb, yoghurt, refreshing. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very good, I don't think I've ever had a rhubarb beer that tasted this much like natural rhubarb!

Rhubarb pie beer that tastes somewhat like rhubarb and isn't too bad but also not too great. There is some sort of herbal flavor in there that doesn't exactly work and would have been better if they would have left that out of there. The tanginess works to its betterment but the essential rhubarb quality is a touch lacking.

Draught at BeerGeek Bar. Cloudy, pale amber colored. AROMA- really fruity pie, touch of caramel. FLAVOR- a bit sour, not dry, perfect rhubarb pie. Medium bodied.
Tasty.
