It was a given that when Sierra Nevada and Boneyard join forces to make a beer, youre gonna get some type of an IPA. Together were brewing an intense West Coast-Style Double IPA heavy with the classic hop character that defines both our beers. It features Mosaic, Simcoe, Centennial and Citra hops in ridiculous amounts, sure to please the hopheads within us all.

Can from Wegman’s. Golden clear with full body. Pine nose, peppery resinous taste. Bitter finish. Fairly straightforward but enjoyable.

16oz can pours out a crisp golden topped with a white head. Nose is big pine hops dank as can be rich caramel malt sweetness. Taste is more of the nice pine citrus hops sweet caramel with a grapefruit pithy end.

Generally speaking West Coast DIPAs are not my favorite type of beers but this one is a pretty good version. Resiny, but quite drinkable.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a vibrant yellow-gold color with an enormous soapy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was earthy and piney hops. The flavor was bitterish, a bit tangy and somewhat rough with earthy and piney hops and caramel. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

Sampled from the tap at Republic 7C. Pours a clear copper with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a good amount of pine and resin backed by sweet grains. Flavor is similar with resinous pine throughout with a touch of flora and a grain backbone.

Big, brutally bitter DIPA, moderate citrus and dank notes combining with a mild cereal sweetness, leading to a lingering, IBU-packed finish. Lemon-orange notes pop up in the middle, while the malts offer tiniest bit of honey to pad the back end. Herbal-floral hops grow clingy and pine-centric, and the fade is a long, slow bitter onslaught. Good old-school, big-ass West Coast IPA.

Orange hued, bright, with a white head. Citrus, light pine, tropical fruits, sweet toast and malt. Medium bodied. Finish has some medium bitterness over sweet tropical fruits. A nice fruity citrus full IPA

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 4/26/2017. Pours slightly hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge tangerine, grapefruit, peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, guava, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, white bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, guava, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, white bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, guava, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance. Touch of lingering hop astringency through the glass, but not overwhelming. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, sticky/resinous, and fairly bready/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 8.3%. Overall this is an awesome west coast DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; despite the aggressively bitter/drying finish. Tons of dank, grassy, earthy, and vibrant fresh hop taste; with just enough malts for a bit of balance. A very enjoyable offering.
