To celebrate the oft-rainy Pacific Northwest, we’ve brewed a New-World India Pale Ales featuring exotic Ella hops loaded with aromas of kiwi and passionfruit. These fresh and zippy hops are nicely balanced by a clean pale malt character. We’ve liberally dry hopped Umbrella to add to its distinct and complex flavor. Enjoyable anytime, rain or shine. Go ahead—grab an Umbrella and let it pour.

Pours a hazy golden-orange, with smallish head. Aroma has some muted hops and citrus. Flavor has grapefruit and hop bite. Rather bitter finish. A decent IPA.

On tap at the Pacific City brewpub. Clear light golden with soapy white lacing. Light clean beer floral slightly citrus hop flavors. Squeaky finish. Can’t get used to this new hop flavor. A well done light IPA

On tap at Bakgården Både&. A hazy golden colored beer with a small white head. Nice lacing. Almost butterscotch on the nose, at least too much on the toffee side, with a fruity, lightly piney hoppyness. Citrus zest hints. It’s full to medium bodied, quite dry and with a pleasant carbonation level. Bready, toffee-ish malts serves as a backdrop for the piney, fruity hops. A bit low on bitterness and hoppy flavors I think. Long hop driven finish with toffee-ish malts in the back. Nothing special going on here, close to disappointing. 160515

Bottle, picked up at Albertsons. Clear golden pour, lots of bubbles, and a finger of creamy eggshell head. Lots of thick sticky lacing. The aroma is hoppy; floral and dry, a little spicy. Hints of pale malt. Huge hops flavor is mostly bitters, but it’s not overly bitter and is pleasant to drink. Herbal and spicy. Really showcases the Ella hops. 8/4/7/3/14 = 3.6

Bottle from Brewster’s, Point Roberts, WA
Hazy dark blond color with medium sized persistent head. Delicate aroma of cereals, crackers, and some citrus fruit (7.5). He mouthfeel is very dry and therefore this beer is very drinkable; crispy delicate malt flavor, with a good bitterness level; the hop gives a nice resiny character, and lemon pie; balanced, nothing is out of place here.
Excellent, fresh.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out herbal, vegetal notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with pine, herbal and weedy hops. Bright and hoppy. Light and flavourful. Very good.
