Can, 4.3%. Clear golden colour. Nice stable white head. Mildly grainy aroma. The flavour has a little rough bitterness, but is not bad per se. Hint of grain in the finish, but also a faint creamy note.

500ml bottle. I’m lucky enough to have a colleague who comes from Slovakia and goes back a couple of times a year and he brings me back a few beers. Could have sworn I’d had this, but nope, there are more Zlaty Bazant beers than I knew. Pale gold, lasting thin white head. Some lemony hop on the aroma. Bit of yeast. Mouth feel isn’t all that good though, nor are the flavours. They all fall away a bit. A bit light maybe, but it’s not terrible. Just all disappears a bit. It’s ok, but a little watery and a little dying towards the end. Some sting on the finish. OK.

Bottle. Metallic hop nose. Golden, no visible carbonation, low foam. Light mellow sweet malt base, ok hop balance, falters on the aftertaste. Medium body. Drinkable but not exiting - much better than the first time I had it though.

11/08 0.5 l can from a gas station somewhere around Trencin, Slovakia. Poured pale yellow body with smaller head. Malty flowery aroma with some hops between grass and lemon. Flavor is quite thin, malty and slightly hoppy sourish. Shorter, lightly sour and a bit soapy finish. Not so nice and pretty boring, typical pale lager.

On draught, in a hotel near Strančíce, Bohemia:Golden coloured, visible carbonation, mid-sized lacing white head, faint grainy to sweet-malty flavour with illusions of faint hops in the background, delicate bitter-sweet flavour, watery MF, quick light bitter-sweet finish. A bland and boring brew from Slovakia............

New review:Ogi got another can of the 4.3% 10° Bažant so I rerated it. Poured a golden body with a medium sized white head. Slightly bitter hoppy nose, quite weak. The taste, however, was a pleasant surprise. Quality lemony hopiness, slightly yeasty, sweetish, closer to a Belgian than a pils. Not much bitterness in the taste, but more so in the aftertaste. Odd but nice. 4/3/6/3/12Old review:0.5l can courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!) Hmm... Smadny Mnich and this both claimed 4.3, and were both put here as 3.8.... odd. (Edit: I’ve put it under the 3.8% version first but moved it after seeing that the 4.3% version got a separate entry for some reason.) Poured a medium sized fluffy white head that went away fast, light golden colour, lively carbonation, fizzy even, light golden colour. Lemony and dusty nose. The taste is light, with hints of nice fruity malt, and some subdued, yet prickly hoppiness. Not much aftertaste. The taste is pleasant enough, but nothing special. Flawless but boring indeed. 5/2/5/2/12
