Dank, pithy bitterness and bright lemon are at the steering wheel in the next leg of photographer Mark Newton’s Patron’s Project journey; cruising down West Coast Routes. A 5.7% West Coast IPA, exactly as it should be, rolling on a biscuity malt base. This is a style of beer gaining momentum and you’ll want to be along for the ride.
Made in collaboration with Anthology Brewing, who’ve been quietly commanding respect across the Yorkshire beer world for several years now, and know all about crafting something with drinkability in mind.

Orange with a white head. Tropical fruits, papaya, mango, resin notes, toasted malt, candied fruit. Medium bodied. Feels old school and yet has a sweet candied note that throws it some. Still, nice.

440ml can. Clear golden, white head. Aroma of orange, resin, pine. Taste of orange, grapefruit, earthy, pine, a little sweet caramel and biscuit malt, very resinous finish with decently strong bitterness. Medium bodied. A solid westie, but not top tier.

Keg. A Tap takeover in Black Cloak Tap, Colwyn Bay. Slightly opaque amber. Foamy translucent white head
Aroma has light rwsin and a citrus edge. Bitter resinous flavour. A tangy citrus edge. However it's kinda cloying. Underlying chewy malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice enough West Coast IPA. Just doesn't quite don't for me.
