Keg at Amersham beer shop, Amersham, Bucks. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, slightly sweet. Lovely rich tasting porter from Northern Monk.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Pours very dark brown colour with a mid-sized most good lasting tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt, sweet chocolate and some coffee. Taste of sweet roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and some coffee, nice stuff!

A black beer, a head is medium and light brown. Aroma has strong but nice espresso, some sweetness of lactose, also chocolate and even liquirice. Taste has espresso, some balancing sweetness. Medium bodied. Strong coffee, but that’s nice and balance is quite good. Simple.

Can from Bacchanalia, drunk at home. Very dark brown, with a very tan tonsure of head. Coffee obviously dominates the aroma, with hints of violet and hot fudge. Taste is bittersweet, like eating chocolate covered espresso beans. The coffee is also massive in the aftertaste. Very well made, and I’m sure there’s a beer in here somewhere... and after all it’s cheaper than a latte at Starbucks. But I wish it tasted just a little more like beer.

Many thanks to ThirstyBird for this can! The beer starts great fresh chocolatey. Fresh and roasted, very smooth. The lactose makes this stout very soft. Velvet-like smooth with lots of chocolate and roasted coffee. Moderate bitter, round and fresh. The aftertaste is great chocolatey, nice bitter with a nice subtle sweetness.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 26/1/2016. Near black with a hint of red and decent, beige, head. Sweetish dark fruits, plenty of coffee, toasty malts and a gentle finish with hint of a tang. A good dark beer.
